This move by Meta could disrupt rivals' revenue models based on proprietary technology. While it's great that Mark Zuckerberg is offering AI for free with Llama 2, one can't help but wonder if he's just trying to make friends with the robots early on

The competition in the AI chip arena started a year ago, and assessing the current frontrunner is becoming increasingly challenging with each passing day. While my bets would still be on Nvidia and IBM, it appears that Sam Altman is actively promoting his own perspective in this unfolding scenario. After being reinstated as OpenAI CEO, he signed a letter of intent for OpenAI to spend $51 million on AI chips from a startup called Rain AI during his previous tenure as CEO. Altman had also personally invested more than $1 million in Rain AI. The deal, not previously reported, indicates potential conflicts of interest and the entanglement of Altman's personal investments with his role as OpenAI CEO. Rain AI is developing neuromorphic processing units (NPUs) designed to replicate features of the human brain.
Back in 2018, Sundar Pichai presented a demonstration of Google Duplex, an AI assistant that effortlessly scheduled an appointment with a hair salon. The promise was to enhance efficiency for local businesses. However, I'm still eagerly awaiting the realisation of that AI assistant yet comes another news where they just unveiled Gemini, its most expansive and sophisticated AI model yet, poised to redefine AI applications. Gemini comes in three versions: Gemini Ultra, the most powerful; Gemini Pro, versatile across various tasks; and Gemini Nano, designed for specific tasks and mobile devices. This groundbreaking model will be available for licensing through Google Cloud, enabling developers and enterprises to incorporate it into their own applications starting December 13. Gemini's diverse applications range from enhancing customer service through chatbots to trend analysis for advertising and content creation for marketing campaigns. Remarkably, Gemini Ultra excels in MMLU, surpassing human expertise in a wide array of subjects, showcasing exceptional nuance and problem-solving skills. Google CEO Sundar Pichai highlights Gemini's multimodal capabilities, integrating text, code, audio, image, and video. While Gemini Pro is set to enhance Google's Bard chatbot, the forthcoming Bard Advanced will leverage Gemini Ultra. Although Google has yet to detail monetization plans, Gemini's launch marks a significant advancement in AI, challenging competitors and setting new standards in AI capabilities. With Gemini's ability to analyze and correct math homework, students might just start blaming the AI for their homework mistakes!
